Dottie first met John Schneider in 1980 when she was tapped to play herself in an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard.  They became fast friends and  did some other television together.

In 1981, Dottie asked John to sing a duet with her on her Full Circle album.  Lover to Lover was the cut and, although it was never released as a single, it was a fan favorite.  John did some dates on her Full Circle tour, along with her daughter Shelly and her duet partner, David Frizzell, and the Gatlin Brothers.  John would go on to have many country hits, including four #1 singles.

In 1983, John and Dottie were together for another project called The Raccoons and the Lost Star.  John was the voice of Dan the Forest Ranger and Dottie was the voice of Melissa Raccoon.  The Raccoons was a children's show that started out as a few specials but became a weekly show due to its popularity.  Lost Star was the second to last of the specials.

Dottie not only provided the speaking voice for Melissa, but she also sang some songs for the project as well.  Fallin', Fallin' and Lions and Tigers were two solo songs and she did One More Night and Friends with John.  John also sang two solo songs, Calling You and Shining.  John is proud of the work he did on the show and enjoyed working with Dottie.  "I really enjoyed working with Dottie, and it feels good to now be a father and know that I was part of a truly wonderful piece of family entertainment!"
